For my bachelor's project at the Danish School of Media and Journalism, I chose to create a fictional project for Ventilen, an initiative in Denmark aimed at addressing the taboo of youth loneliness.
I aimed to explore whether discussions about loneliness could be initiated in non-confrontational ways. Through my research, I discovered that art and literature can serve as effective conversation starters about loneliness, addressing the topic without focusing directly on the individual.
Through research and conversations with teenagers and professionals working on the issue, I discovered that my target audience primarily gains their knowledge from social media and is constantly online. To have the greatest impact, the solution needed to be personalized for each individual.
I developed an interactive mobile experience that guides users through artworks and literature in a unique way. The choices each user makes alter the experience, ultimately creating a personalized poem.
Users receive a sharable poem that they can discuss with friends or family, comparing their different results. This approach initiates conversations about loneliness without making it too personal.
